A CALL FOR VOLUNTEER PATIENT REPRESENTATIVES
OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE MACMILLAN CANCER PRIMARY CARE PROJECT
We know from the National Cancer Patient Experience survey that a patient’s experience of cancer care outside of the Hospital is not always as good as they rate their hospital care.
General Practice Nurses and Community Nurses have developed skills to care for patients with long term conditions and we believe that given the appropriate support and education, nurses have a big role to play to support patients living with and beyond cancer. Macmillan Cancer Support have been providing a training and education programme for nurses to help support their development and skills in cancer care. We want to ensure that nurses continue to develop their skills in this area through education and support and we have set up a steering group to take this work exciting piece of work forward. We want to ensure the patient voice is heard throughout this project and would like to recruit two representatives who have experience/knowledge of using cancer services within south west London.
