In 2019 we are setting up the ‘South West London People’s Panel for Health and Care’. The panel will be made up of around 3,000 residents who will take part in online surveys, sharing their views and feedback about plans, services and what matters most to them about health and care. They may from time to time be offered the opportunity to take part in a group discussion. Their views will be shared with health and care decision makers to help shape developments for the future.
Panel members are not self-selecting and will be recruited to reflect the makeup of our local population. Membership of the panel is voluntary, so there’s no payment, but we hope that members will gain satisfaction from knowing that they are helping their NHS by sharing their views. We will give panel members regular feedback on the results of surveys and how these are being used to influence developments.
The South West London People’s Panel for Health and Care is just one of the ways we are involving local people in our work. We also have a programme of direct engagement, where patient representatives are recruited to join a committee or working group; and targeted engagement, where we involve specific groups of people in developments, eg people with experience of particular services or people who have a particular health condition.
