Della Ogunleye, Patient Representative, South West London Health and Care Partnership
“I’ve been involved with the NHS for over 8 years with the NHS as a patient representative on the south west London Cancer Clinical Delivery Group. I share not only my personal experiences but also those of people I have met whilst working in the community to ensure the patient voice is at the heart of every decision made. I also volunteer and try to raise awareness within the BAME community around cancer screening and give talks around general well-being including diabetes.
“I’ve really noticed the impact of my involvement and the progress we’ve made as a group so far. Along with our other patient representatives, I’m able to ensure that our voice and the voices of the patient are listened to and thought of at every step of the commissioning cycle. I would recommend everyone to get involved in sharing their experiences of the NHS – even if it’s completing a survey as every voice helps!
“My proudest moment is being able to play at part in designing the Cancer Clinical Delivery Group agenda by presenting a patient story at each meeting. I am also proud to be recognised for my contributions to each meeting and also to the Transforming Cancer Pathway Workshop.”
