Shri Mehrotra – Director and Volunteer, Healthwatch Sutton

“I’ve been involved with Healthwatch as a director and volunteer for five years. Before that I was a volunteer with LINK for three years.

“I’m a ‘critical friend’ for local health and social care services by monitoring them. Some of the work I’ve been involved in includes being part of the Sutton Vanguard to look at how we can improve the lives of older people in care homes, and attending King’s Fund meetings to ensure I’m well informed on policies and issues.

“I like the challenge of working with large organisations such as the NHS to help improve services and representing local voices. I’d recommend this to other people because I’m part of the Sutton health and care programme and so much good work is taking place in Sutton.

“My proudest moment  was being part of a team of Healthwatch volunteers who visited wards at Epsom and St Helier Hospitals to speak to patients.  We used the feedback to create a report which lead to an action plan and we were then invited to an event where staff told us about their plans to improve the patient experience.”
