Tara Bahri – Lead Primary Care Pharmacist, Richmond CCG

“I’ve worked in the NHS for 10 years, starting at Kingston Primary Care Trust in 2008 and then moving to Richmond Primary Care Trust in 2011. 10 years on, Kingston and Richmond Clinical Commissioning Groups are now working as a single local delivery unit and so I’m back working with some familiar faces, which has been lovely!

The main aim of my role is to lead my team in working closely with our GP practices to maximise both clinically and cost-effective prescribing and to build good relationships.  It’s about ensuring our patients are getting the right choice of medicines, at the right time, and are engaged in the process. Another important aspect of my role is ensuring that the services and pathways in which medicines are used are commissioned to standards that deliver cost-effective use of resources, reduce risks associated with medicines use, and improve patient outcomes and experience with medicines.

I love that we are all working towards a common goal and that there are people around me that are passionate about what they do. I’m fortunate to work in an environment where colleagues are happy to share their successes with each other.

Recently a proud moment for me professionally was working closely with the Richmond GP Alliance, the relationships we built and the work we delivered as a team for the benefit of our local population.”
