“I have been a member of the Wandsworth Self-Management Service and the Wandsworth Wellbeing Hub for two years. We run self-management courses for people with long-term health conditions (Expert Patients Programme) and for carers (Looking After Me).

The aims of the courses are to help individuals improve their health and well-being by developing and learning new skills to manage their condition on a daily basis, and for carers to make time to look after their own health needs. The Wandsworth Wellbeing Hub is a free signposting service that helps support Wandsworth residents find local services to meet their needs. It can help people with a variety of issues, from individuals who wish to get better involved in the community, manage their weight, access local counselling services etc. We also act as an information point for additional services provided by charities, self-help groups and voluntary sector organisations in Wandsworth.

What I like most about working in health and care in south west London is being able to see first-hand the improvement in patients’ well-being and confidence after going on the courses. I also like working within a friendly directorate and delivering presentations to the public, charities and healthcare professionals.”
