Long COVID recovery

Many patients recovering from COVID-19 are still coming to terms with the impact the virus has had on both their body and mind and are still trying to shake off the effects of the virus. This is known as long COVID, or you may also hear it referred to as post COVID.

The symptoms are wide-ranging and fluctuating, and can include breathlessness, chronic fatigue, “brain fog”, anxiety and stress.

How the local NHS is helping

This is why, across south west London, we are bringing services together at borough level.

Support is available for anyone four or more weeks after having COVID-19 who is still feeling the after effects of the virus.

People who think they may be experiencing persistent or long-term effects of COVID-19 infection are advised to contact their GP, who will determine the appropriate course of action.

How patients can support themselves

While specialist clinical services are available for those who need them, most people recovering from COVID-19 will benefit from self-care or advice on managing your recovery.
