Restoring Public Confidence in South West London Cancer Services
The pandemic has seen a significant delay in people contacting their GP practices with signs and symptoms suggestive of cancer, and in responding to cancer screening invitations or appointments in south west London possibly due to patient concerns around attending and safety.
Attending breast screening appointments, as other medical tests, is a legitimate reason for people living in a tier 4 COVID area to leave home. So, it’s vital we spread the message that the NHS is open as usual, and that the NHS has adapted services in order to see them safely.
Everyone should also speak to their GP practice if they have symptoms and are concerned about attending in person, and also respond to their cancer screening invitation when received.
For this next phase of the campaign we are focusing on the following themes:
- general cancer symptoms
- cancer screening programmes
- a focused promotion on breast screening (due to the slow recovery in south west London)
In early 2021 we will also be building in other key messages likely to focus on lung, bowel, and cervical. Please do check this link regularly for updates.
