We want our hard-working NHS and social care staff to know that their health and wellbeing is important to us. In addition to supervision with your line manager or professional lead there are a range of services available that can help.

South West London Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs
The South West London Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs are based in the four hospital Trusts and provide health and social care colleagues with rapid access to local evidence-based mental health services and support where needed.
The service can offer staff a clinical assessment, quick access to counselling and supported onward referral to more specialist services.
The hub offer is confidential, free of charge, and open to all health and social care staff from all services and settings. You can access any of the Hubs or self-refer via the details below:
Your local IAPT service
Your local Improving Access to Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing services (IAPT) offer a range of talking therapy options to help you manage symptoms of stress, worry, and low mood and to build your emotional resilience. IAPT services provide specialist interventions and support including one-to-one support to help people with stress- related problems, anxiety disorders, depression and trauma.
If you require more specialist support with mental health needs your local IAPT service can also help you find this.

Every Mind Matters
Every Mind Matters aims to help you manage and maintain your mental health, as good mental health makes such a difference. It helps us to relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more.
We all go through ups and downs in life, and experience life changes that can affect our mental health.
Every Mind Matters gives you simple and practical advice to get a healthier mind and get more out of life – from how to deal with stress and anxiety, to boosting our mood or sleeping better. It will help you spot the signs of common mental health conditions, get personalised practical self-care tips and information on further support. You’ll also learn about what you can do to help others.
Every Mind Matters has been created by Public Health England, with tips and advice developed with experts and approved by the NHS. It has also been endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners. In January 2020, we teamed up with Heads Up for the biggest weekend in football, the Emirates FA Cup Third Round, to help you discover simple steps to look after your mental health.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust
The South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust is a leading provider of mental health services across south west London and a beacon of excellence for many of our national mental health services. Visit their site for advice and support and to access A-Z services in south west London.
The Trust also has a Recovery College which provides courses for staff, patients, their carers and family to become experts in their own self-care and wellbeing, giving them the tools they need to manage their conditions and for families, friends, carers and staff to better understand mental health conditions and support people in their recovery journey.
Mental health support for Muslims working in the NHS
Inspirited Minds and the Lateef Project have partnered with the NHS Muslim Network and the NHS England and NHS Improvement’s Health and Wellbeing Team to provide a confidential and Islamic-based counselling service for our NHS people, delivered by qualified counselling therapists.

Thrive LDN is a citywide movement to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all Londoners. It is supported by the Mayor of London and led by the London Health Board partners.
We know that many people who both live and work in London are feeling anxious about coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it might impact them, their loved ones and London’s businesses.

NHS Practitioner Health
NHS Practitioner Health is supporting the mental health of doctors with a range of free tools and resources.
Frontline19 is a free, independent, confidential and UK based nationwide service delivering psychological support to people working on the frontline.
Mind, the mental health charity, has developed tips to help you maintain your mental wellbeing, including ways to support yourself during winter.
Duty to Care
NHS workers can access free online sessions to improve and sustain mental health and wellbeing by registering on the Duty To Care website.
Welldoing.org therapists are offering free sessions to NHS staff. All therapists have been verified and are members of their appropriate professional bodies.
Body & Soul
Body & Soul is a call-back service offering 30-minute sessions with a trained therapist, giving you a chance to be validated, heard and supported. There is an option for further support if necessary.
Association of Christian Counsellors
- A free service available until 31 January 2021. Developed and funded by
the Association of Christian Counsellors, who are offering up to 10 online or telephone counselling sessions to:
- People working within the NHS who are directly impacted by COVID-19
- People working in residential care homes who have been impacted by caring for those with COVID-19
- Anyone who has been bereaved during this time
The confidential service is open to people of all beliefs and none, and you can ask to be matched on ethnicity.
We are Beyond
You can download a free resilience toolkit from the We are Beyond site to help reduce stress and anxiety.
Resilient Practice aims to raise awareness of the importance of personal resilience in modern life, you can improve your self-awareness & learn practical skills to create your own personal resilience toolkit.
NHS staff have been given free access to a number of wellbeing apps since March 2020 to support their mental health and wellbeing.
NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) have worked with the following app providers to waive costs for the NHS workforce who are dealing with the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, however, announced in March 2021 that free access to some of the apps is coming to an end.
NHSEI is continuing to support NHS staff by moving into a longer-term, preventative health and wellbeing model by working with regional leads to explore how the wellbeing of staff can be supported.
Bright Sky is a free to download, confidential mobile app providing support and information for anyone who may be in an abusive relationship or those concerned about someone they know.
Cityparents is a programme that consists of a curated collection of positive and practical support for working parents, delivered through expert-led webinars/seminars, advice, peer insights, online articles, blogs and podcast.
Daylight is a smartphone-based app that provides help to people experiencing symptoms of worry and anxiety, using evidence-based cognitive behavioural techniques, voice and animation. Free offer to NHS staff expires 31 March 2021 (New users will have until 31 March 2021 to sign up. All NHS accounts will remain active for 12 months from sign up (for example staff who signed up in February 2021 will have access until February 2022)
Good Thinking launched in November 2017 as a hub for all wellbeing apps designed for anyone living or working in London. So far over 220,000 Londoners have used Good Thinking to tackle sleep, anxiety, stress and depression. It’s free for Londoners thanks to London’s NHS, London’s borough councils and Public Health England. It is delivered by Healthy London Partnership.
Headspace is a science-backed app in mindfulness and meditation, providing unique tools and resources to help reduce stress, build resilience, and aid better sleep. Free access to all NHS staff with an NHS email address is available until 31 December 2020 and is active now. Free offer to NHS staff continuing until 31 December 2021
Liberate Meditation is a meditation app that offers culturally sensitive and diverse meditations and talks that have been curated for the BAME community. The app aims to help reduce anxiety, alleviate stress and promote rest. Free offer to NHS staff expires 30 June 2021
Movement for Modern
Movement for Modern Life is a British online yoga platform that brings together world class yoga teachers, inspired movement and mindfulness into your home or a place of comfort. The free offer to NHS staff expires 30 September 2021
Developed by Big Health, Sleepio is a clinically-evidenced sleep improvement programme that is fully automated and highly personalised, using cognitive behavioural techniques to help improve poor sleep. Free offer to NHS staff expires 31 March 2021 (New users will have until 31 March 2021 to sign up. The #StayAlive app is a suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis.
Unmind is a mental health platform that empowers staff to proactively improve their mental wellbeing. Using scientifically-backed assessments, tools and training you can measure and manage your personal mental health needs, including digital programmes designed to help with stress, sleep, coping, connection, fulfilment and nutrition. Free offer to NHS staff continuing until 30 June 2021.
